Who We Are.
When the school bell rings at the end of the day, thousands of kids across metro Des Moines pour out of classrooms and move on to their after-school routines. For some, this means heading home where they are met by a parent who helps them with homework before driving them to football practice.
For others, after-school options are far less certain, stable, and safe. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, we provide safety and support during critical hours of the day as well as meals, strong role models, organized athletics, access to the arts, and more.
As one of the most well-known and respected youth organizations in the country, Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides young people with opportunities to engage in programs that help them achieve academic success, take charge of their well-being by building healthy habits that will stick with them throughout their lives, and foster the skills they need to become leaders in their communities.

Since 1963, BGCCI has supported Des Moines metro kids and families when they need us most: after-school, all-day in the summer, and even during the school day. Our strategic programming and supportive staff mentors help inspire and enable all young people who walk through our doors.
How We Do It.
When school is out, our eight Club sites are in. We provide high-quality programs in a safe environment, with caring staff and volunteers dedicated to serving as positive role models. Our Club members can overcome barriers to success because we are willing to do whatever it takes to help them achieve great futures.

We ensure that every child who walks through our Club doors has his or her basic needs met. By collaborating with families, schools, and partners in the community, Clubs provide children a safe space, meals, and an environment to learn and grow.
No other organization supports our Des Moines community kids who need us most more than Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa.
