The Feeding the Future program was developed to ensure our kids and teens have access to the basic needs required for them to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, food insecurity is a real challenge this community’s young people face each day. In Polk County, one in five children does not have adequate access to nutritious foods. Our families are forced to make difficult decisions between purchasing clothes, food, medicine, transportation, or paying the bills. Through our Feeding the Future program, we provide consistent, nutritious food for the young people in the community who need it most. Our program consists of three main parts: snacks and meals during Club time, take home food bags, and Club pantries.

  • Snacks and Meals: At each of our eight Club sites, members are served both a snack and a hot dinner during our after-school Club program. When Club is open all day, all three meals are served to members.

  • Take Home Food Bags: While this component is decreasing in use in favor of Club pantries, our bag program ensures that our Club kids have access to adequate food over the weekend, when they are away from school and Club.

  • Club Food Pantries: Multiple Club sites now have dedicated pantries that serves as an ongoing resource for our Club members and families.
