Congratulations to our 2024 Youth of the Year, Kayleigha!
Selected among three outstanding youth, Kayleigha was named the Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa on Tuesday March 5.
The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle. For nearly 80 years, the Youth of the Year program honors our nation’s most awe-inspiring young people on their path to great futures. Kayleigha will go on to contend for the Iowa Youth of the Year title March 26th at Holiday Inn Downtown Mercy Campus and a $2,500 college scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Kayleigha, from McCombs Club, has been a member for five years and enjoys volunteering and playing with her sisters. After high school, she plans to attend college and get a master's degree or doctorate. She sees herself becoming a doctor or running a small business someday.
If Kayleigha is named the Iowa Youth of the Year, she will contend for the title of Midwest Regional Youth of the Year who will receive an additional $20,000 college scholarship. Six finalists will advance to the National Youth of the Year event later this fall, to vie for the title of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year will receive an additional scholarship of $50,000 and a brand-new Toyota Corolla.
Another congratulations to our Junior Youth of the Year, Nisha. Junior YOY seeks to develop junior leaders within the Club environment and provide the foundation needed for advanced leadership development, academic excellence and postsecondary success.
